Basic Evaluation

KidLit
starting at $626
Chapter Books—$626—Aimed at beginning readers. Simple plots. ~20,000 words.
Middle Grade—$1449—Often told in 3rd person. Longer than a chapter book. Focus is on the protagonist. 30,000–50,000 words.
Young Adult—$1897—aimed at readers aged between 13–17. Often told in 1st person. 50,000–75,000 words.
In all cases, I evaluate the pacing, story, and voice, and provide editing at the line level to improve clarity, flow, and readability. Packages can be tailored to address a particular need. All packages include an Editorial Report and Style sheet, in addition to access to my newsletter and writing resources.
Adult Fiction & Memoir

Specialized Services
Academic—$0.04–$0.05 per word—I bring my experience as a trained social scientist and educational researcher to every academic manuscript I edit. I am especially skilled at fine-tuning language for clarity and flow, and as such, my edits are a combination of line and copy-editing. Each package includes an Editorial Report and Style Sheet, in addition to in-line edits and comments. I edit work from a range of disciplines and look forward to helping you polish your manuscript whether that’s for a book, journal, grant proposal, or dissertation.

Picture Books
starting at $180
Picture Books have unique requirements separate from other forms of kidlit.
*Coaching: a Zoom session where we discuss your personal writing needs. You bring your questions, challenges, or epiphanies and we chat about craft and practice techniques to use in your writing journey. We brainstorm together to help you flesh out character, plot, and other story elements. Additional coaching sessions are also a great way to help keep you accountable to your writing practice.
**Revisions: You revise your manuscript and I read it, and then provide you broad strokes feedback on what works and what still needs work (e.g., “Your main character’s motivation is clearer in this version because …” or “The tone in this version is darker than you might intend because of …”). Please note that additional revisions IS NOT the same as additional edits. If you would like feedback at the line and paragraph level, you will want additional edits.
***Edits: You revise your manuscript and I read and edit it. I provide you with detailed feedback at the line and paragraph level. This means I return your manuscript with Track Changes and suggested edits marked in-line.
